The HDPE high-density polyethylene sheath serves to isolate corrosion and protect the DCP epoxy coating on steel bars when embedded in concrete. It shall only be retained on the middle embedded segment of the bar. The HDPE sheath on both ends for anchoring and thread connection must be completely stripped off. The five core reasons are as follows:
1. HDPE plastic fills thread gaps and reduces metal meshing area, leading to slipping under tension.
2. Plastic friction causes false torque reading; threads cannot be fully tightened.
3. HDPE creeps under long-term load, resulting in continuous prestress loss.
4. Extruded plastic debris scratches and damages steel threads during tensioning.
5. Different thermal expansion coefficients between steel and PE loosen connections with temperature changes.

Only the middle embedded section keeps HDPE sheath. All threaded ends must be stripped for safe anchoring and connection.
The thickness of our HDPE protective sheath ranges from 0.3 mm to 2 mm.
